Name the country, vehicle and charging application before selecting a connector. The United States and Canada need their own product and installation review; a single North American label is not a complete specification.

Keep AC and DC selection separate

Specify Type 1 and NACS AC requirements separately. Confirm the input plug, current, complete-product documentation and vehicle compatibility of the actual equipment. A connector/cable component is not a finished charging device.

There are no DC models currently listed. Any future CCS1 or NACS DC configuration requires its own technical and vehicle compatibility review. Do not infer DC capability from a portable AC connector. Match evidence to the whole product

UL’s charging infrastructure service identifies different standards for AC charging equipment, DC chargers, personnel protection and connectors, including UL 2594, UL 2202, UL 2231 and UL 2251. These are useful reference points for asking which evidence applies. A component report is not a substitute for evaluation of the finished charger. Ask for the applicable U.S. and/or Canadian certification or listing records, issuing organization, exact model coverage and rated electrical configuration. Have the local installer and authority responsible for approval check the proposed equipment and installation. Define the site brief

  • Country, state or province, site use and intended vehicles.
  • Vehicle inlet, model year and AC/DC charging requirements.
  • Supply voltage, phases, circuit rating, input plug or hardwired connection.
  • Outdoor conditions, cable reach, parking layout and access requirements.
  • For commercial sites: backend, user authorization, billing, networking and power control.

Use the commercial AC or fleet planning checklist to describe the operating requirements. Confirm electrical design and permitted loads locally before choosing an output setting.
