Fleet charging built around the departure schedule

Turn route energy, parking windows and available power into a fleet charging brief, from overnight AC to DC charging between shifts.

Fleet charging starts with the energy vehicles need before their next departure. Record routes and parking windows before selecting power. A mix of overnight AC and DC for shorter stops may be appropriate, but the right combination depends on the vehicles, schedule and available supply.

For example, four vehicles each needing 30 kWh require 120 kWh in total. Spread evenly across a six-hour window, that is 20 kW on average before charging losses and scheduling constraints. This arithmetic is a discussion aid; it does not specify the chargers or electrical installation.

Compare the charging windows

  • Long overnight dwell: evaluate managed AC against each vehicle’s AC capability.
  • Intermediate stops: consider compact DC where AC cannot meet the required window.
  • Shorter turnaround: review higher-power DC against the vehicle’s actual charging curve and site capacity.

Plan for interrupted operations

Define what happens when a charger is unavailable, a vehicle arrives late, communications fail or the site limit is reduced. Assign departure priorities and agree how drivers or dispatchers see charging status. Do not assume that adding more outlets adds more utility capacity.

Confirm the system before rollout

Use load management to specify site control and OCPP acceptance to test the management interface. Include DC outlet-sharing tests where relevant.

Ampvoya is reviewing its equipment range and does not currently list AC or DC charger models. Vehicle compatibility, software functions, energy delivery, backup arrangements and service coverage must be agreed for the actual fleet project.
