EV charging procurement for Europe
Plan Type 2 AC and CCS2 DC configurations with a country-specific electrical brief, conformity documents and public charging requirements.

Start with the destination country, vehicle inlet and site supply. Type 2 AC and CCS2 DC are starting points for a European equipment brief. The connector alone does not confirm product approval or site suitability.
Build the electrical specification
- For home and destination AC charging, compare 7, 11 and 22 kW against the available phases and the vehicle’s onboard charger.
- For portable charging, specify the country-approved supply plug and permitted current separately from the Type 2 vehicle connector.
- For DC charging, record battery voltage, charging demand and the available site power. Confirm the exact CCS2 configuration and output curve.
- For a multi-bay installation, define the site power limit, metering and control architecture before choosing a load management arrangement.
Review a document set, not just a mark
The manufacturer must identify the applicable EU legislation and conformity route, maintain the technical documentation and draw up the EU Declaration of Conformity. A CE mark on a product image does not supply that evidence. Review the named manufacturer, exact model and configuration against the documents. See the European Commission’s manufacturer guidance.
Ask for the declaration, supporting electrical safety and EMC reports, any relevant radio documentation, labels, instructions and the agreed economic-operator responsibilities. Establish requirements for the particular product and country with the responsible compliance team. No Ampvoya series is described here as having verified EU approval.
Distinguish equipment from public operation
For a publicly accessible site, review payment, pricing information and operator responsibilities separately from the charger specification. Start with the European Commission’s AFIR questions and answers and the public charging project checklist. A charger fitted with RFID or OCPP is not, by itself, a complete public charging service.
What to include in an enquiry
Send the country, home/workplace/public application, number of bays, vehicle connection, voltage and phases, site power budget, backend and billing needs, and required documents. For Great Britain, also use the separate UK market brief.
