Specify Great Britain or Northern Ireland, then private or public use. These distinctions affect the document and functionality review. A Type 2 connector does not establish a complete UK-ready product.
Check the applicable marking route
UK government guidance describes continued recognition of EU requirements, including CE marking, for covered product regulations in Great Britain alongside the UKCA route. Do not assume that every product must replace CE with UKCA, or that one marking resolves every requirement. Identify the regulations and route applicable to the actual equipment. Northern Ireland has a separate market framework. State the destination explicitly and arrange the appropriate review rather than reusing a GB document checklist without checking it.
Private smart charge points
Great Britain’s smart charge point regulations cover relevant private domestic/workplace charge points and smart cables, with exclusions including non-smart cables, rapid charge points and public charge points. For an in-scope product, ask for the required functionality evidence, statement of compliance and technical file. See the official smart charge point guidance.
An app, Wi-Fi connection or OCPP label alone does not confirm compliance. Confirm the exact configuration and firmware. The Ampvoya catalogue has not yet verified these records for any series.
Public sites need a separate operator review
Check the public charging rules applicable to the intended installation, including payment, information and operational duties, against the UK Public Charge Point Regulations guidance. Establish responsibilities between equipment supply, software provider, installer and operator before commissioning.
Put the installation into the brief
Record the country, site use, voltage and phases, connection arrangement, earthing/protection design to be checked by the installer, vehicle inlet, number of bays and communications. For shared parking, include the site power management brief; for paid access, use the public charging checklist.
