BUYING GUIDE 04 / OEM PROCUREMENT

An OEM EV charging purchasing checklist

Define the product, evidence and acceptance criteria before turning a sample into a production order.

On this page 7 sections

For a small-batch OEM charging project, confirm whether the order quantity and requested branding are feasible before choosing a sample. Then agree the exact configuration, required documents and acceptance criteria. The Ampvoya EC-W300 7 kW wallbox has an OEM minimum order of 1,000 units. Sample terms and customization scope are confirmed separately; this model is not a confirmed small-batch OEM offer.

1. Identify the product and destination

Start with the product category while model selection is in progress. State the destination country, the intended buyer and the application. List the vehicle connector, supply arrangement, rated current or power, cable length and required functions. An Ampvoya model number is not required to send an initial enquiry.

A requirements enquiry is a starting point. Once a product has been selected, the final quotation and sample specification should identify the exact ordered configuration.

2. Separate the customization requests

Group the requested changes into product appearance, packaging, electrical configuration and software functions. A new carton is a different task from a new enclosure or firmware change. Confirm what is available, what requires development and what could affect existing documentation.

Do not assume a minimum order, sample cost or lead time. Ask for written terms tied to the agreed scope.

DecisionWritten confirmation to request
Trial orderMinimum quantity per model and whether configurations may be mixed.
Logo and packagingSeparate minimum quantities, setup costs and artwork approval steps.
SampleSample cost, what is customized, expected timing and whether its specification matches the proposed order.
Repeat ordersReorder minimum, availability of the agreed configuration and how substitutions are approved.

These are procurement questions, not Ampvoya order terms. A low equipment minimum does not establish the same minimum for custom packaging, colours or firmware.

3. Match the evidence to the configuration

Request the model-specific documents required for the intended market. Check the issuer, covered product, document identifier and relevant configuration. A component report is not proof that the finished charger has passed the same assessment.

For a connected charger, review software and interoperability evidence separately from electrical product documentation. OCPP support is not interchangeable with OCPP certification.

4. Agree sample acceptance criteria

Before a sample is sent, record what will be evaluated: appearance, dimensions, connector and cable configuration, user controls, charging functions, documentation and any backend integration. Electrical tests should be planned by appropriately qualified people using suitable equipment.

Keep a record of the approved configuration and the changes still open. Approval of artwork alone is not approval of electrical performance.

5. Confirm the production and delivery terms

  • Final product specification and artwork revision.
  • Quantity, price, payment terms and sample charges.
  • Lead time and the milestones that start the schedule.
  • Inspection and acceptance arrangements.
  • Packaging, shipping terms and required documents.
  • Warranty, spare parts and responsibility for fault handling.

6. Keep a stable product identifier

Once assigned to a confirmed product, use the same model identifier in the enquiry, sample review and commercial discussion. If a different electrical configuration is required, record it explicitly rather than silently changing the product behind an existing reference.

The current Ampvoya catalogue contains EC-W300: 7 kW, single-phase 230 V, 32 A, Type 2 with a 5 m cable. Keep any future ratings, current settings or cable lengths tied to the exact model and orderable configuration.

Ready to make the brief?

The enquiry form helps organize the product category, country, quantity and customization requirements. It generates a draft you can review and copy, then open in email or WhatsApp to send yourself. Nothing is submitted automatically.

This is a procurement workflow. Factory ownership, capacity, minimum orders, delivery terms and product certification still require supporting evidence for the selected programme.
